BREWSTER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES 

Brewster Shelter Opening Volunteer: This position helps us open our shelter in the morning. While there is work involved, there is nothing like being the first one to say “good morning” to the animals. This position includes direct animal care tasks such as providing food and water for our animals. It may also include scooping, disinfecting and rinsing our indoor and outdoor kennel runs. Indirect animal care may also be assigned, such as various administrative tasks and other duties. Applicants must be able to commit to at least one two-hour shift per week. Must be reliable, hard-working and have great attention to detail. This is hard but rewarding indoor and outdoor work in all sorts of weather. *Must be able to lift 50 pounds. This position is available weekdays and weekends 8:00-10:00 am. Learn more about becoming an ARL volunteer.

Brewster Shelter Kennel Cleaner: Help keep kennels clean for our animals. Duties include scooping, disinfecting and rinsing our indoor and outdoor kennel runs, washing feed and water bowls and toys. Indirect animal care may also be assigned, such as various administrative tasks and other duties. This is hard but rewarding indoor/outdoor work in all sorts of weather. Applicants must be able to commit to at least one two-hour shift per week. Must be reliable, hardworking and have great attention to detail.*Must be able to lift 50 pounds. This position is available weekdays and weekends from 9:30 – 11:30 am. Learn more about becoming an ARL volunteer.

Brewster Shelter Closing Volunteer: This position helps us close down our shelter at night. Making sure our animals are content overnight is a priority and that includes having a friendly face to say good night to them. This position includes direct animal care tasks such as providing bedding, food and water for our animals. It may also include scooping, disinfecting and rinsing our indoor and outdoor kennel runs. Indirect animal care may also be assigned, such as various administrative tasks and other duties. Applicants must be able to commit to at least one two-hour shift per week. Must be reliable, hardworking and have great attention to detail. *Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Brewster Small Animal Amigo Volunteers: We are in need of volunteers to help with our small animal care. Duties involve kennel & cage cleaning and socialization for our rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, mice, birds, etc. This position has flexible hours and is available weekdays and weekends. Learn more about becoming an ARL volunteer.

Brewster Shelter Greeter: In this weekend volunteer position you will welcome potential adopters and help them begin the adoption process. Responsibilities include warmly welcoming and directing visitors to the Adoption Center, answering general inquiries about the ARL, providing information about our shelters and other animal services. Other clerical and administrative tasks may be assigned. This position requires a regular weekly commitment and is available on weekends at 1:00pm and 4:00pm.Learn more about becoming an ARL volunteer.

Brewster Administrative Assistant:  This volunteer position works directly with our Shelter Staff. Duties include answering phone calls and updating data. Previous administrative or development experience is preferred. This position is available weekdays and weekends from 1-3 pm.  Learn more about becoming an ARL volunteer.

Brewster Adoption Counselor: Our adoption centers are very busy on the weekends. Help our animals find loving homes by talking with potential adopters about our adoption process and individual animals. We are looking for energetic people who are comfortable talking to the public. This position is available on weekends at 1:00 and 4:00 pm. Learn more about becoming an ARL volunteer.

Brewster Transport Volunteer:  Volunteers are needed to provide ground transportation of healthy dogs, cats and other pets to and from our partner shelters and rescues helping them to find their loving forever homes! We are seeking people who are willing to volunteer their time, gas and vehicles to drive the animals. A valid driver’s license and own reliable insured personal vehicle is required.  This is an on-call position, sometimes subject to short notice. Learn more about becoming an ARL volunteer.

Brewster Feline Friends: We’re looking for experienced feline socializers to enrich the lives of our shelter cats through play, quiet-time and grooming.  Looking for fun and engaging people with the ability to help make our shelter cats feel more at home.  Morning and afternoon shifts available, weekdays and weekends.  Learn more about becoming an ARL volunteer.

Brewster Canine Companion: We’re looking for experienced dog handlers to enrich the lives of our shelter dogs through walking, yard play, quiet-time, and training.  Looking for fun and engaging people with the ability to work with our stronger dogs.  Morning and afternoon shifts available, weekdays and weekends.  Learn more about becoming an ARL volunteer.
