Host a DIY Fundraiser
Thank you for your interest in hosting a fundraising event to benefit the Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL). ARL receives no government funding and relies solely on supporters like you to advance our mission to be unwavering champions for animals most in need.
A Do-It-Yourself (DIY) fundraiser assists in funding ARL’s many program and services that benefit animals in need throughout Massachusetts. Every contribution is appreciated and makes a powerful difference.
As you begin your DIY planning process please review the following guidelines before completing and submitting an application. Once the application has been submitted, it will be reviewed by an ARL staff member. Written approval will be provided within five (5) business days of the application submittal. Please note your event is not authorized until you receive the written approval from an ARL staff member.
Completed application must be submitted at least twenty-one (21) business days prior to your fundraising event.
Upon approval a letter of agreement must be signed.
A $500 donation, for authorized use of ARL’s logo, likeness, photography and marketing materials, will be collected upon approval of event.
A link to a marketing kit will be provided once the $500 donation is received. Marketing guidelines and other materials can be downloaded to help promote your event.
DIY fundraisers must comply with federal, state, and local laws regarding permits and/or licenses needed for fundraising events.
Due to limited resources, ARL cannot provide staffing, adoptable animals or media relations for DIY fundraisers.
We recommend that tribute gifts, with ARL as the beneficiary, be set-up using a third-party site such as Eventbrite or CrowdRise.
A single acknowledgement/tax receipt for your DIY fundraiser proceeds will be provided by ARL.

Fundraisers Under $500.00
For donations under $500.00, no Application & Agreement Form is necessary, however, we are unable to authorize use of ARL’s name, logo, likeness, photography, and/or marketing materials. See the terms in the DIY Fundraiser Guidelines (click here).
Donations under $500.00 can be made to anytime in one of two ways:
- Check donations can be made by writing a check directly to “The Animal Rescue League of Boston”, with the name of the DIY fundraiser on the memo line, then mailed to Animal Rescue League of Boston, ATTN: Development, 10 Chandler Street, Boston, MA 02116.
- Credit or Debit Card through our online donation form www.arlboston.org/donate or by calling Derek Stemmler at 617-226-5662.
