The Animal Rescue League of Boston is working with the Sandwich, MA Police Department to locate and apprehend the person responsible for the Thursday, May 16 or Friday, May 17 shooting of “Mr. Paws,” an almost two-year-old orange and white domestic short haired cat owned by a Sandwich family. The cat’s owner found Mr. Paws on the 17th outside her house on Pierre Vernier Drive alive but paralyzed from the waist down. He was taken immediately to Oceanside Animal Hospital where, after extensive tests, he was euthanized because of his poor prognosis for recovery. The family is devastated and confused about why anyone would shoot their beloved pet. The League’s Center for Animal Protection, which is assisting in the forensic analysis of this case, and Sandwich PD are anxious to identify who is responsible for this act to prevent him or her from abusing other animals.
A $500 reward is being offered by the League for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the responsible party. If you have any information related to this case, please call 617.226.5610.
