Be a Hero: Help unite our small friends with loving families on Clear the Shelters Day

Clear the Shelters Day is only a few days away! On Saturday, August 15, thanks to a generous grant from the ASPCA, ARL’s shelters in Boston, Brewster, and Dedham are offering $50 OFF the adoption fees of all adult cats and dogs to help them find loving homes this Summer. Click here for more information and a list of participating ARL locations.

Your donation will help animals like Daisy Mae find a loving home!

At the ARL, we know that big things come in small packages. That’s why we want to support our small friends too- and YOU can help!

Donate between Tuesday, August 11 – Thursday, August 13, during the Super Smalls Sponsorship Fund Drive and your contribution will go toward sponsoring the adoption fee of our Super Smalls shelter pets!

Your donation will go even further because ARL’s adoption fees include a large number of veterinary and behavioral services, such as: spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, health screening and veterinary examination, behavioral screening and evaluations, and a microchip.

Many people think animal shelters only have dogs and cats, but at the ARL we have the capacity and knowledge to take in a variety of small animals, including birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, mice, rats, hamsters, ferrets, degus, and chinchillas. Watch this video to learn more about the work your donations help support.

Super Smalls like Tommy, the parakeet, Blondie, the guinea pig, and Tallahassee, the rabbit make great companions for pet “newbies”, families with limited space, or people with allergies to cats or dogs.

Not ready to adopt? Here are other ways that you can make a difference:

  • Sponsor an adoption fee during the Super Smalls Sponsorship Fund Drive. Donate now.
  • Sign up as a volunteer. Donate your time to caring for animals or helping with administrative tasks. The ARL staff will match you to a position aligned with your skills and interests. View ARL’s current volunteer opportunities.
  • Become a foster parent. Opening up your home to an animal on a temporary basis gives a shelter pet the comfortable loving environment they crave until they’re ready to be adopted. Learn more about becoming an ARL foster parent.
  • Donate supplies from our shelters’ wish lists. Contact (617) 226-5602 or for more information.
