Because of the major cell phone demand\, the Congo’s coltan mining business has increased rapidly in recent years. This has led to dramatic destruction of the natural habitat of great apes\, bringing this species closer to extinction. When recycled\, old electronics can have a major impact on the lives of gorillas. \nFrom April through September 1\, the Animal Rescue League of Boston’s (ARL) Animal Care & Adoption Centers in Boston\, Dedham\, and Brewster (Cape Cod) will help collect cell phones\, iPods\, iPads\, tablets\, adapters\, chargers\, earbuds\, and MP3 players. Hours of operation are 1:00-6:00 p.m. \nSmall animals make wonderful pets – they’re social\, relatively quiet\, great for small living spaces\, and may be an option for those living in properties that may not allow dogs or cats but do allow small animals. Learn what’s included in ARL’s adoption fee. \nARL is committed to matching adoptable animals with a home. Our conversation-based\, application-free adoption process—Adoption Forward—is designed so that the needs of both the animal and the adopter are understood and compatible with one another. DESCRIPTION:Add a pup to your pack during the Animal Rescue League of Boston’s (ARL) Clear the Shelters five-day Dog Adopt-a-thon event at ARL’s three Animal Care & Adoption Centers (Boston\, Dedham\, and Brewster – Cape Cod) from Tuesday\, August 22 through Saturday\, August 26. \nFor this adoption event\, adoption fees will be waived for dogs 1-year and older. Meet our adoptable dogs online. \nWith many potential adopters’ eyes being drawn to the cuteness of puppies\, sometimes older dogs can be overlooked\, spending more time in a shelter environment instead of the home they deserve. While young adult dogs can still exhibit the energy and playfulness of a puppy\, unlike their puppy counterparts\, young adult dogs are often potty trained and have already learned basic manners and skills. \nARL’s Adoption Forward\, a conversation-based adoption matching process\, will remain the same during this event. If you have another dog in your home\, please bring them with you to meet the dog you are interested in adopting.
