A Wedding Gift for Animal Lovers

Muffin’s Adoption Fee Sponsored as Wedding Gift

When Izak and Chelsea visited the ARL’s Boston shelter a few weeks ago to find out about adopting a cat after their wedding they fell in love with Muffin. With their wedding and honeymoon just a few weeks away, they knew they couldn’t commit to adopting a pet at that time.

Zoe, a friend of Izak and Chelsea’s, heard them talk about how much they love Muffin and decided to give them the most amazing wedding gift! She came to the Boston shelter to sponsor Muffin’s adoption fee in hopes that Muffin could find a great home with someone else.

Muffin is currently waiting to for a loving home and with a story like this, we hopes she finds one very soon! She is a very sweet  and playful kitty, but doesn’t particularly enjoy the company of other cats and would prefer to be the only cat in the house. One of her favorite things is getting her back scratched!

You can learn more about Muffin by viewing her adoption profile or vising our Boston adoption center and asking to meet with her.

Izak and Chelsea were married on September 6. Congrats Izak and Chelsea!!! We wish you a wonderful life filled with loving friends, both human and four-footed!

Reward Offered for Information Regarding Sandwich, MA Animal Cruelty Case

PR Contact: Marci Tyldesley, marci@capepr.com/ (508) 317-4345

Mr. Paws in sink_May 2013

Mr. Paws

The Animal Rescue League of Boston is working with the Sandwich, MA Police Department to locate and apprehend the person responsible for the Thursday, May 16 or Friday, May 17 shooting of “Mr. Paws,” an almost two-year-old orange and white domestic short haired cat owned by a Sandwich family. The cat’s owner found Mr. Paws on the 17th outside her house on Pierre Vernier Drive alive but paralyzed from the waist down. He was taken immediately to Oceanside Animal Hospital where, after extensive tests, he was euthanized because of his poor prognosis for recovery. The family is devastated and confused about why anyone would shoot their beloved pet. The League’s Center for Animal Protection, which is assisting in the forensic analysis of this case, and Sandwich PD are anxious to identify who is responsible for this act to prevent him or her from abusing other animals.

A $500 reward is being offered by the League for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the responsible party. If you have any information related to this case, please call 617.226.5610.

Oliver Twist’s Surprise Reunion with FedEx Driver

Last week we had a very special surprise for the good Samaritan who found Oliver Twist in Dorchester almost a month ago!

We invited Jeff, the FedEx delivery man who called us about Oliver back on April 3, to come to our Boston shelter, so that we could honor him for his swifts actions that helped save Oliver’s life. What we didn’t tell him was that Oliver would be stopping by for a surprise visit! By that time Oliver had already been adopted, and Jeff thought that he would never have a chance to meet him. Oliver’s new adopters were in on the surprise and were delighted to have opportunity to meet the person who saved their pup’s life!

Update: Oliver Twist To Go Home Soon Thanks To YOU!

Oliver Twist, the severely neglected puppy found in Dorchester by a FedEx delivery man, has been making excellent progress over these last two and a half weeks! He has been following a strict progressive re-feeding schedule and is filling out nicely. As you can see from the photo above, he looks MUCH better than he did the day he came in. Despite being a victim of animal cruelty, Oliver is a happy and playful puppy who LOVES attention from his human pals.

Thanks to your support and donations we were able to give Oliver the care he so desperately needed! We were amazed by how quickly you all responded on Facebook and Twitter, sharing his story and donating online. You helped save this puppy!

We’re are thrilled to share that he’ll be going home with his new family by the end of the week!
