Give animals the chance to heal

Alice T. Whitney on her wedding day

Alice T. Whitney and her husband on their wedding day

Longtime ARL supporter and former Board member, Jane Whitney Marshall, established the Alice. T. Whitney Helping Hands Fund in memory of her grandmother,(a contemporary and friend of ARL Founder Anna Harris Smith), who became a vice president of ARL in 1916 and served on the Board of Directors from 1921 until her passing in 1955.

The Fund ensures that economic barriers do not prevent owners from accessing vital veterinary care for their pets in treatable medical emergencies.

The Challenge

Animals need you now, more than ever, to get the life-saving care they deserve.

Imagine dealing with a pet’s injury or illness during a financial struggle. For many families, rising costs of living and limited access to affordable veterinary care have turned this stressful scenario into reality, leading to heartbreaking decisions about surrendering their pets. Financial barriers shouldn’t stand between a family and their pet’s health.

At the same time, more and more animals are arriving at our Animal Care & Adoption Centers with medical issues that require advanced diagnostics, special surgeries, medication, and recovery time. Our budget has been stretched to the limit and this level of care requires a lot of financial resources.

How YOU can help

The good news is that you can ensure animals get the care they need when they need it most!

When you make a gift today to provide medical care to a shelter animal, your donation will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $70,000, to provide care to an owned animal who would otherwise be separated from their family.

Your generosity can do TWICE as much good by helping a shelter animal and a beloved pet. Don’t miss your chance to have your gift matched, up to $70K, before June 15, 2024!

ARL does not receive any government funding and we rely solely on the generosity of individuals to keep animals safe and healthy.
