Foster a Pet
Please note, we are currently NOT accepting cat/kitten and dog/puppy fosters for our Boston Adoption Center and cat/kitten fosters for our Dedham Adoption Center.
Sometimes, animals in need of TLC will go to foster homes. These might be kittens or puppies too young to do well in the animal shelter environment, an animal in need of a more lengthy recovery period from surgery or one needing to learn some manners through training in the home environment. If you have room in your heart and home, you can help us expand our services and save more animals!
Our shelters in Boston, Brewster and Dedham are always in need of great foster parents. The length of commitment varies; some animals only require a couple of weeks, some require a few months. Foster a pet today!

Roving Rovers Foster Program
Roving Rovers is a program to give shelter dogs at the Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) a “vacation” in the evening while the shelter is closed.
The 3 main goals of the Roving Rovers program are to:
Foster families participating in the Roving Rovers program can take a dog home for one night, or several nights, to help create a bridge between shelter life and a home environment. This program is perfect for working professionals and families who cannot commit to having a foster dog for 24 hours a day, but are interested in enriching a shelter dog’s life in the evenings while they are home.
